I had a whole blog post planned today called “A Day in the Life”. I was going to share what it was like to run a business and what my days look like being a wife and stay-at-home-mom and jewelry designer. But it all seems so shallow now with what is going on with the COVID-19 pandemic.
I will share that blog post at some point, but today I felt like it’s more important to share some hope. So many of us are scared or frustrated with the quarantine situation. There are so many unanswered questions.
But I know the one who has the answers. And His name is Jesus.
The story in Mark 4 seems appropriate to share:
“Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him?”
Mark 4: 37-41 NIV
I’m not afraid of coronavirus. I know that God is getting ready release something in the spirit that is unprecedented and satan is trying to bring fear, confusion, and isolation. He has tried to lift the name of coronavirus above the name of Jesus. But his days are numbered.
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NIV
Jesus is the Name above all other names. Fear is not the answer. Jesus is the only place we can find true peace in these uncertain times.
Speak His name, and He will calm the storm in your life. I’m reminded of a popular song by Koryn Hawthorne and I’d like to close with its words:
The Name above all other names
Speak the Name
The name the wind and waves obey
All of heaven’s coming down
Fill the earth with the sound
Of the Name, the Name of Jesus”
